Secondary  -   High School Transportation Services

Communities  within Union 93,  including Penobscot, Blue Hill,  Castine,  and Brooksville  do not have their own high schools located within their
districts. These communities each year vote at town meetings to send their high school students to George Stevens Academy or Bucksport High
School.
Maine State Law does not require these town to provide transportation to and from these secondary schools,  but the towns
do transport students at the request of the taxpayers of these municipalities.
However,  secondary students are required to follow all rules set forth by the schools providing the transportation.  Students can,  and will be
suspended from riding busses for  questionable actions concerning  student safety and respect of others at any time.
Any secondary students riding Penobscot Community School busses  ,  may be suspended   after receiving verbal warning / warnings.
Students may be suspended for a period of time set by the driver. generally Two (2) weeks.     Should any secondary student / students be
suspended a second time during the school year,  he / she / they,  will be required attend a meeting in which  to ask permission from the
Penobscot School Board to ride the bus.

When students misbehave or  just make loud noises on busses,  the driver generally will  look in the overhead mirror
to see what is going on,  taking their eyes off the road, if only for just a second.   This can cause serious  accidents and endanger
other students riding on the school  bus.

GSA student  Notice :
It is unlawful for school buses to stop traffic  unless students are  entering or leaving the busses.  George Stevens
Acedemy busses must park roadside to load and drop off students.  The Hancock County Sherriff's Department has allowed busses to wait only
breifly  to pick up students.  To avoid public traffic  complaints, student only have a couple minuets to get to the busses each afternoon.  It is a
MUST for students to  go to there last class of the day with all the items they will bring home with them.     If you stop and chat after the bell,  you
will most likely miss the bus ride home.  Make sure all office appointments ect,   are made before the last bell.
All Students shall remain in one seat unless permission is given by the driver to move to another seat.
Students shall not change seats while the bus is in motion.
